Lynn trained in educational drama and theatre-in-educational many moons ago and has worked in this field all of her professional life. Beginning her journey in South Yorkshire comprehensives, she then moved to the West Midlands. As Head of Performing Arts at a large Black Country FE college, she, together with Dave, helped grow a now thriving and well-established performing arts department.
Now freelance for over a decade, Lynn has worked extensively in schools as a Peace Education worker and a trainer of teachers in drama and drama-based techniques whilst developing her professional writer/ performance career alongside.
Dave, on the other hand, has taken a more circuitous route to get here, via a brief excursion into structural engineering, and then re-training as a teacher of modern European history before finding himself fully immersed in fringe theatre. In truth, this is where his heart has always been as he was a founder member of Stourbridge’s Citizen’s Theatre in the 1960’s (a radical pro-am theatre group that never shied from the experimental). A prolific writer of poetry, plays and prose, he is also now returning to the challenge of live performance.
The journey now continues as Lynn and Dave have become Journeymen Theatre, a small-scale touring company which specialises in solo and two-hander productions. We have been touring our work professionally for a few years now but feel the time has come to give ourselves a name and a shape.
